Dining with Sancho~A Perfect Day at Pies & Pints

As I ate this lamb and potato pie I was already plotting on an excuse
to visit this part of Seattle again so I would have a reason to come
eat here again.

Tucked away at the quiet end of 65th Street in Seattle's Roosevelt neighborhood is one of the best-kept secrets in dining. Home to over ten kinds of single serving pies~ from classic chicken to spinach and feta, to my personal favorite~ lamb and potato...this is one of those food experiences that makes you realize where the term "comfort food" came from!

There's even a Mediterranean pie with artichoke, kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach & goat cheese. I think I'm definitely trying the Indian curry one next time, it has cauliflower, peas, carrots, and potatoes in curry sauce.

With comfortable seating in a cozy front room or in the bar, there are also several soups including split pea, a great selection of salads which is surprisingly hard to find in Seattle including an apple blue cheese salad and a Greek salad.

Be sure to try some fries with beer cheese sauce, macaroni, or their homemade steak gravy. They use Seattle's famous Beecher's cheese so you know it's the best! The baked goat cheese sounds amazing with pine nuts and sun dried tomatoes and I never knew there was such a thing as Irish nachos, but chips covered in beer cheese sauce and topped with jalapenos, tomatoes, olives and green onions sounds delicious!

They also have several interesting appetizers and side dishes including Welsh fries, Cajun fries, sweet potato fries, homemade macaroni and Irish nachos. I love spinach artichoke dip and I also noticed it on the menu. I think I'm going to have a long and meaningful relationship with this restaurant!

A favorite diner of local artist and musicians, it was no surprise I ran
into Ben Ireland from Sky Cries Mary.

With a high-ceiling bar, oversized mirror and interesting art on the walls, adding the stage and bringing live music to the restaurant was surely a dream of owner Kathy Moore and her husband Randal Smith. Kathy is a very well-known and amazing musician who plays with The Guessing Game and has recorded with Shawn Smith & BRAD as well as a slew of other talented musicians who were all on hand to help her break in her new stage recently.

Her opening night with music added was a Lou Reed tribute. It was lovely and I took several videos and it was also live streamed by us here on Xanaland -- something we're looking forward to doing more of in the future (lamb potato pie, here I come!)

Kathy Moore, RL Heyer, and friends break in the new stage at Pies & Pints

Exquisite performers, artists, the lucky people who live in the neighborhood, and even a regular monkey like myself can enjoy a pie and pint and make it a perfect day!

Pies & Pints is located at 1215 N.E. 65th
Seattle Wa. 98115

Be sure to tell them the monkey sent you!
