Grunge Cookbooks Po' Boy Salmon

Yes, believe it or not, there is such a thing as being poor and still having salmon for dinner, that's just life in the Great Northwest, and mind you, we're not just talking about Seattle - the seafood is great and plentiful up and down the entire West Coast, like in San Francisco, for instance; but the problem in Seattle is once staple restaurants like Ivar's that you used to think of as fast food are now $10.00 a person, not including chowder and extra fries to feed the seagulls.... This is unacceptable!

Joking, of course - we all love Ivar's and it's always worth the money, but when you have to feed 3 people for $20.00, salmon is definitely the way to go, at least you don't feel like you're as poor as you probably are!

So here's how I make mine extra tasty:  I put slices of butter lemon and garlic, just cut it like thick bread half way all the way across so any marinade could seep in, then I threw on a few different kinds of olives, I'm so tired of buying expensive condiments and throwing them out when they go bad, may as well use them up and throw the rest of those capers on there while you're at it! Thank goodness I had fresh garlic, some jalapenos, onions and tomatoes. Then I drizzled cocktail sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, and last but not least, some marvelous sea salt and peppercorn that I accidentally stole from Jack Endino at a shin dig we were both at, I wonder if he feels bamboozled...hmm, anyhow, just as good a reason as any to throw it in the Grunge Cookbook!

Not feeling so poor now are ya!

Here is a close up of the final product, as you can see all the random condiments made a succulent nectar, did I just say random and succulent in the same sentence? Brace yourselves, the RNDM recipe jokes are coming!  Anyhow, another thing I like to throw randomly on salmon is sun dried tomato pesto, I really feel silly like some dorky food blogger for posting this but I really was excited to share because it was soooo yummy!

Succulent, no?

As usual we've provided the perfect cooking music!

Alright, so you're not an Elvis fan, well try this Split Enz song, if you don't know who they are, you're an idiot, you have no business reading this and I should fire my publicist...but he's a monkey that I adopted some years ago so I'm pretty much stuck with him

Enjoy your salmon!  Even if you are a poor boy today you'll be rich in vitamin D tomorrow!
